Butterfly Garden

The Peggy Ell Memorial Garden features flowers specially selected by Des Moines County Conservation and Keep Burlington Beautiful to attract butterflies, a butterfly house, and an inscribed memorial stone. This garden was certified as a Monarch Waystation in 2023, and is maintained by the Iowa State University Extension Master Gardeners of Des Moines County. As the President of the Friends of the Burlington Public Library and an active member for years, Peggy supported the expansion of library services and promotion of literacy. She was a treasured advocate of access and tremendous friend and volunteer who was fond of reading and collecting books.
