  1. Pop Up! Library at Haunted Jefferson

    October 19, 2018, 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

    The Pop Up! Library will share frights at Haunted Jefferson. Stroll the local shops of Jefferson Street and experience some ghostly delights! Visit with the undead and shop some of the greatest stores in town! Find our ghost story at the Pop Up! Library too! Many shops will be hosting a ghost or two and many will be offering treats and deals, maybe even a prize! Make sure you pick up a ghost story from participating shops and create your own book of ghost tales of Burlington, Iowa. By the end of the night, you will have a keepsake that can be passed on for generations... - if you last that long! Save every story you receive from each shop and by the end of the evening, you will have your very own book full of local horror! Trick or Treat is for little kids- but tonight is for the older crowd, so leave the wee-little ones with the screamish and join us for "Un-Living Windows" this Halloween season on Haunted Jefferson!

  3. The Art of Conservation: A Visit with Ding Darling

    In his 45-minute performance, Tom Milligan will appear "in character" as he shares about conservation with the audience and answer questions as "Ding" Darling. Tom has spent 45 years as an actor, director, scenic designer, and theater artist in the Midwest. His performance shares the story of the Sioux Cityan who became one of the nation's most respected political cartoonists and most deeply committed conservationist. Jay N. "Ding" Darling visits with the audience, as an old friend, in his 11th office at the Des Moines Register. Beginning with his early years in Sioux City he recalls his remarkable life. His story includes two Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoons for the Register and a remarkable career as a nationally known conservationist.

  4. Red Ribbon Week Trivia

    TICOS (Teens Inspiring Change Optimism & Service) is hosting this year's Red Ribbon Week Trivia Contest at the library this year. Teams of 4-8 people can play in this family-friendly event, and have the potential to win $500.00! Cost is $35 per team or $5 per individual.   5. Pop Up! Library at Safe Alternative to Trick or Treat

    October 31, 2018, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Burlington Memorial Auditorium

    Find the Pop Up! Library at the annual event hosted by the Burlington Police Department is open to the public and allows children (age 12 and under) in costume to Trick or Treat inside of Memorial Auditorium. Various businesses and community organizations hand out candy or treats to the kids in this safe, climate controlled environment.
