    Join us for our fourth annual Genealogy Lock-In at the Burlington Public Library for six hours of uninterrupted access to materials and research equipment while the library is closed. Meet fellow researches on their family history journey. Brainstorm solutions to obstacles in the process. A light dinner will be provided for those who register before Monday, October 15.   2. The Art of Conservation: A Visit with Ding Darling

    In his 45-minute performance, Tom Milligan will appear "in character" as he shares about conservation with the audience and answer questions as "Ding" Darling. Tom has spent 45 years as an actor, director, scenic designer, and theater artist in the Midwest. His performance shares the story of the Sioux Cityan who became one of the nation's most respected political cartoonists and most deeply committed conservationist. Jay N. "Ding" Darling visits with the audience, as an old friend, in his 11th office at the Des Moines Register. Beginning with his early years in Sioux City he recalls his remarkable life. His story includes two Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoons for the Register and a remarkable career as a nationally known conservationist.

  3. Red Ribbon Week Trivia

    TICOS (Teens Inspiring Change Optimism & Service) is hosting this year's Red Ribbon Week Trivia Contest at the library this year. Teams of 4-8 people can play in this family-friendly event, and have the potential to win $500.00! Cost is $35 per team or $5 per individual.
