  3. Not Just Black and White: A White Mother's Story of Raising a Black Son in Multiracial America.

    Anni Reinking’s new memoir, “Not Just Black and White,” is being featured among Publishers Weekly’s New and Notable Titles of African American Interest. She will be visiting the library on Friday, February 22 at 6 p.m. Dr. Anni Krummel Reinking grew up in Burlington, Iowa and was a 2003 graduate of Burlington Community High School. In the years since graduating and moving away from Burlington she has traveled the world, become a mother and wife, and is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). In January 2019 her first novel was published titled Not Just Black and White: A White Mother's Story of Raising a Black Son in Multiracial America. She documents her life, beginning in Iowa, traveling to Kenya, and ending in Illinois. Her stories relate to her experience and research around the concept of race.
